A personal collection in a new art space
The art of graphics in Bulgaria often remains in the shadow of painting and sculpture, apart from the great conversation of the fine arts. The graphics as a form of creative expression in our country continues to be marginalized by the specialists, and also by collectors despite the organized individual exhibitions of prominent and proven authors, despite regularly held graphic forums such as the International Triennial of Graphics, the International Biennale of Graphics – Varna, despite the fact that it is the art of graphics over the years also brought some of the biggest recognitions for our country in foreign countries competitions.
As an attempt to counter this situation in Sofia, opens a new artistic space – the graphic art gallery Grafikart. Exhibition space and events that present focused graphic art – in the spectrum of its classical forms to modern means of expression. Space for a meeting of graphic lovers with established authors, but also with artists who are chose working with the printing press as their vocation in the 21st century – looking for new ones conceptual and plastic directions, crossing the existing boundaries of this old one media.
“Mission Graphics is the first exposition marking the creation of GRAPHICART gallery. It presents a fragment of the collector’s rich collection, but first of all, he himself is a graphic designer by vocation – the artist Ludmil Georgiev. During its more than 30 years he did not lose his career and active presence on the artistic scene in the country curiosity about the work of his colleagues and over time accumulates a rich graphic collection of works by authors for whom the art of graphics is not a momentary fascination, but a field in which they live, create and embody their ideas.
In the present exhibition can be seen graphic prints executed in classic techniques such as lithography, etching, aquatint, mezzotinto, etc., and the authors included are 37. Among them, special mention should be made the names of Emanuela Kovach, Vasil Kolev, Veselin Damyanov, Stefan Markov, whose creativity has an important place in the collection of Ludmil Georgiev. The exhibition provides an opportunity to meet works of already established classics in the field of graphics masters – Lyuben Dimanov, Nikolay Maistorov, Stoyan Tsanev, Petar Chuklev, Lyubomir Yordanov, Borislav Stoev, Stefan Markov, Rumen Skorchev and others.
